What Does a Chevy Factory Warranty Include on a New Vehicle?

A new Chevy comes with three standard warranty protections that cover different parts of the vehicle for different lengths of time.

The Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for 3 years or 36,000 miles. Tires are covered against defects (not wear-out), and towing to the nearest authorized dealer for warranty repairs is included.

Then there’s the powertrain coverage — the one most buyers care about most when they’re thinking long-term. The Chevy powertrain warranty length is typically 5 years or 60,000 miles, and it covers:

• Engine — block, cylinder head, manifolds, oil pump, internally lubricated parts, seals, and gaskets
• Transmission/Transaxle and Transfer Case — case, internally lubricated parts, mounts, seals, and internal electrical components
• Drive Systems — propeller shafts, universal joints, constant-velocity joints, axle shafts, and bearings

Note that sensors, wiring, connectors, radiators, hoses, and coolant are not included under powertrain. Those may fall under the Bumper-to-Bumper coverage if defects are found during the shorter window.

Does the Chevy Warranty Transfer to a New Owner — and What Could Void It?
